What it is
Pelvic organ prolapse
Pelvic organ prolapse is when one or more pelvic organs (the bladder, uterus or rectum) sits lower than usual and presses into the vaginal wall, because the muscles and connective tissue that hold them up have stretched or weakened. It’s often linked to pregnancy and vaginal birth, menopause, long-term straining, or heavy lifting, and it ranges from changes you barely notice to a bulge you can feel.
Prolapse is common, especially after childbirth and menopause, and mild to moderate symptoms often improve with pelvic floor training.

Progressive strength for hiking, lifting and carrying. We coordinate with your doctor if a pessary could help.
In Katrina’s words
Prolapse symptoms can make you feel like your body is failing you on the trails you used to own. Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on support, pressure management, and strength that respects your anatomy—not fear-based restrictions.
We talk plainly about what you feel, what activities matter to you, and how to build confidence with loading again. Pessaries are a medical device fitted by a physician; we can coordinate with your provider and help you move well with or without one.
Our clinic is in Poulsbo; women drive from Silverdale, Bremerton, and across Kitsap because they want time and expertise, not a rushed visit.

Common questions
FAQs
Can I still hike with prolapse symptoms?
Many women return to trails with better strategies for hills, packs, and fatigue. We progress load based on your symptoms and goals—not generic “never lift again” rules.
Will pelvic PT cure prolapse?
PT can reduce symptoms and improve function for many women. Anatomy may still be changed; our job is to help you live actively and confidently with the body you have.
Do I need a referral in Washington?
You do not need a physician referral to see a physical therapist for pelvic health in Washington. We still coordinate with your medical team when needed.
